How Project Managers on AMAKA Fractional Teams Help Businesses Manage Creative Teams: Insights from Maureen Dede

Hiring the right creative talent can be tricky. Many businesses struggle with the time-consuming process of vetting candidates, managing deliverables, and ensuring smooth collaboration across their teams. Without the right support, bringing creative ideas to life becomes an uphill battle. That’s where AMAKA Fractional Teams come in.

We spoke with Maureen Dede, an experienced Project Manager at AMAKA, who has successfully led projects for brands like Kwanda, GCC, and others through AMAKA’s Fractional Teams initiative. In this interview, Maureen explains how AMAKA helps businesses streamline hiring, manage top-tier creative talent, and deliver results—whether you’re launching a new platform or scaling your TikTok content strategy.

Maureen is one of several expert project managers on our platform. AMAKA’s Fractional Teams database includes highly qualified professionals who are ready to take your next project from conception to completion.

Meet Maureen Dede: Project Manager at AMAKA

Can you introduce yourself and share a bit about your role as a Project Manager at AMAKA?
My name is Maureen Dede, and I manage client projects on AMAKA through the AMAKA Fractional Teams initiative. As a Project Manager, my role includes:

  1. Hiring talents best suited for clients’ projects.
  2. Assisting clients in managing these talents by communicating their desired outcomes and ensuring a smooth delivery process.
  3. Helping clients navigate the platform, track milestone deliverables, and manage payouts.

What steps does AMAKA take to ensure the talent hired is the right fit for a client’s project?
Talents are pre-vetted before they are hired. When a client needs a talent aligned with their brief, I post a Gig on the AMAKA platform based on their requirements. Registered candidates who offer the requested services apply with their portfolios and CVs.

As a Project Manager, I go beyond just reviewing profiles and portfolios. I carefully vet each candidate to ensure they’re not only a fit for the role but also credible and professional. This helps eliminate potential issues down the line.

How does AMAKA help clients manage their team once they’re onboarded?
Once a team is onboarded, I set up project milestones on the AMAKA platform, in line with the client’s brief. Payments are structured so that funds for each milestone are released progressively as deliverables are met. This ensures a seamless process and keeps both the client and the talent accountable.

What kinds of creative projects have you seen AMAKA execute successfully?
Personally, I’ve managed projects like event planning, platform launches, market entry campaigns through short-form content, and branding/marketing agency projects. All of them have been successfully executed—progressively, LOL.

Can you share a success story where AMAKA helped a client achieve great results through the Fractional Teams initiative?

A client wanted to establish their presence on TikTok and needed creators and video editors to drive their short-form video content efforts. Through the AMAKA platform, we sourced and managed the right talents, helping the brand successfully achieve its content goals.

Why AMAKA Stands Out

What’s the biggest advantage of hiring through AMAKA compared to traditional agencies or freelance platforms?
Oh, quite a few things stand out to me:

  1. The talents on AMAKA are well-suited for business owners, making the hiring process more tailored and efficient.
  2. The platform’s vetting process is seamless. A recent feature update even allows Project Managers and clients to review a talent’s portfolio directly on the platform without switching between tools.
  3. AMAKA functions as more than just a hiring platform; it’s also a social hub (in my words). There’s a Twitter/Medium-style post feature that enables talents to share their work and ideas. Seeing their creative expressions helps me understand their style, personality, and expertise—making it easier to hire the right people.

Maureen’s Advice to Businesses Looking for Creative Talent

What advice would you give to a business looking to hire creative talent but unsure where to start?
