We are beyond excited to announce that we have successfully closed a $2 million seed funding round, marking a pivotal milestone in our journey to empower Black and African creators globally.
This round was led by Equitane (formerly Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund: ATIF), alongside key partners such as Morgan Stanley Inclusive Ventures Lab, Silverbacks Holdings, and a group of angel investors.
This investment propels us forward, allowing us to accelerate our mission of providing a cutting-edge platform where creators can not only share their work but also get commissioned and compensated for it. Our platform, AMAKA Gigs, is set to revolutionize the creator economy by connecting brands with creators in a streamlined process that encourages collaboration, transparency, and financial equity.
The $2 million investment will be strategically allocated across several core areas to drive AMAKA’s growth and innovation:
This funding is more than just a financial boost—it's a critical step toward driving equity for Black and African creators who have been historically underserved in the digital space.
As our Founder and CEO Adaora Oramah says:
“This investment enables us to scale to a full proposition and technological ecosystem for creators to share content while also being commissioned for their work on the platform.
We aim to compensate Black and African creators for their work and address their current pain points while allowing audiences to browse and support both emerging and established content creators.
Brands can use our platform to source creators for branded content and marketing strategies, driving equality and equity for African content creators worldwide.
From content creation and commissioning to financial inclusion, we are driving economic impact and change for a dynamic community that has been routinely underserved.”
Our vision is to become the go-to destination for both emerging and established creators, offering automated tools that make it easier for creators to connect with brands, manage their work, and monetize their content effectively.
In the coming months, we will bolster our sales and B2B marketing efforts to attract a wider range of small businesses and larger advertisers. By fostering new partnerships and long-term collaborations, we aim to cement our place as the premier platform for diverse creators.
Anish Jain, CEO of Equitane, shared his excitement for the future of AMAKA Studio, saying:
“We are excited to lead the investment in AMAKA Studio's remarkable journey towards revolutionizing the creator economy. At Equitane, our mission to drive sustainable and innovative development aligns perfectly with AMAKA's vision to empower creators through cutting-edge technology and financial solutions.”
Over the past three years, AMAKA Studio has evolved into a diverse and engaging space where creators and brands have thrived. Moving forward, our platform will expand to allow creators and brands to establish direct working relationships and enjoy a variety of automated and intelligent tools.
Driven by social content creation, our platform will continue to focus on job creation and opportunities for African content creators who have been routinely excluded in the past.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to our vision of creating a thriving ecosystem for creators and brands to connect, collaborate, innovate, and grow—together.
